Default 5.3, installing a 4l80e...

I've got no clue where to start after reading all different threads. I've got a 2002 5.3 and a 2ed 4l80e off a 6.0. I need them together. Where do I start?

There's absolutely a lot of advice in the Conversions Section here on the site. Read and take a few notes. There are also several very good, thorough and recent books on the subject of LS engine swaps and this is how I started my swap quest late last year. I read, took notes and only THEN . . . started asking questions. Slow and deliberate reading, planning and buying will absolutely give you a better and less expensive LS engine swap outcome.

What vehicle will you be modifying???

I've done a little bit of digging and I've heard you have to use stock flex plate some say use the 4l80 flex plate and spacers and adapters. And I've just gotten such different advice I wanted to see if someone had a straight forward starting point for it. I have a 1984 C10 and I just am about to finish my 2002 5.3 Lm7 build. And I just got a 4l80e 2wd from a friend for cheap. I've only got about 2 and a half months before I leave for basic and I want this truck drivable before I leave. That's the main reason I'm rushing into it.

When i put the 4l80 behind my lm7 i used the flat flexplate that was used in a 4.8/4l80 work van. I also had to use the spacer that was behind it with the longer bolts as well.

I used the ATP-Z270 flexplate from Summit Racing. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/atp-z270

This has the spacer built in, and uses the 4l80e torque converter. For only $50 or so, it's perfect. Bought the bolts too and I think they were $25 or so. Works perfectly fine.

this was what i did as well. i havent driven mine yet, but it bolts up fine and the converter is in the correct location.

i got mine on amazon and it came with the bolts.
