Default Fuel Pump

I am putting a LM7 bored to 5.7 in my 94 GMC pickup. If I install a inline fuel filter do I need to remove the old in tank pump?

You still need a pump. If you remove the in tank pump, what's gonna push the gas??

I think (but could be mistaken) that he meant to say an "in-line fuel pump". So, if he is installing an EXTERNAL, in-line, fuel pump YES you would need to remove the in-tank fuel pump. Your EXTERNAL pump will not be able to pull fuel through the factory fuel pump in the tank. And YES, you would still need to install an in-line fuel FILTER.... after your in-line fuel pump.

Why not just replace the original in tank pump? it's already a fuel injection tank you just need a high pressure pump.

On some pickups it's actually easier to undo the bed bolts and tilt the bed up high enough to get the assembly out the top. I recently did this on a 2002 and was done in 2 hours.
