4L80E Conversion 
You should be able to find and bolt on a 2WD output shaft/housing. Stop by the truck forums and search/post there. Lots of us truck guys are playing with the 4L80e conversions. Let me know if you want to sell the Xfer case and or tranny if you decided to get an actual 2WD 4L80e.
On a side note, you may not necessarly need the 4L80e tranny for the Chevelle. It all comes down to the weight to HP ratio. The 4L60e tranny has a better 1st gear ratio for racing.

Need 4L80E - 4 wheel drive output August 19, 2004
I bought a 1999 4L80E, 2-wheel drive tranny with 24,000 miles. I will be converting it to 4 wheel drive use.
I am told there are many tailshaft lengths and that I will have to change the shaft. I am interested in a tailhousing and tailshaft swap.
Hopefully we could help each other or someone else could help us out.
