Default Wrong LS engine? No start

Hi Everyone,

I have a custom conversion where I was told the engine was a 2011 6.0 from a gmc savanna 3500.

Looking at the intake manifold, it has a build date of march, 2008.

Any pointers on what to check to correctly identify the year of this engine?

I have had the ecu programmed for a 2011, but I assume if this was actually a 2008 or 2009 engine it might not run on the 2011 computer.

I had been getting codes for the pedal and MAF. Could this be due programming or pinout differences?

They are pretty specific as I understand to keep the pedal with the engine/throttle body. Seems a bit of emphasis on it in the community. Could you get a VIN# off the engine and double check exact application with dealer and then put in the appropriate program to start ?? This is what I would try to do.

Thank you for the reply. I have been poking around the engine trying to find out the vin but am not quite sure where to look. Any suggestions?

driver's side rear where the trans/bell housing bolts up down near the oil filter, if the engine is in the car you'll have a hard time reading it, maybe use a mirror?
