Question What is the right accelerator pedal for...

Looking for assistance.... Purchased a 2005 Cadillac Escalade 6.0 to go in a project truck. It came with the stock ECU and TAC (TMD1-160E1) but no accelerator pedal. From what I can find there were two pedal options available that year (fixed and adjustable) they appear to have different sensors on each pedal. How can I tell which accelerator pedal would need to be purchased to correctly communicate correctly with my TAC?

Appreciate any and all help.

Thank You,

My guess is that some of the Escalades came with adjustable pedals and some did not. For the purpose of your swap, you're probably better off using the non adjustable pedal, because it looks easier to install. The ECU and TAC should not care. Someone else will chime in, I am sure.

I ran across this in another thread and recall the APPS is different for the fixed vs adjustable pedals. Not sure if there's a tune difference since both use the same TAC and ECU.
I'm guessing you don't want the monsterous adjustable pedal. Best bet is to get an 05 fixed pedal, see if it works.

Thank you for the input so far.

Picked up an 05 fixed pedal with a TAC that matches the TAC that came with the engine (TMD1-160E1) and am getting the following symptoms:
The majority of the time the pedal works without issue
On occasions mostly at start up the engine will idle but when the pedal is pushed there is zero response (no rev of the engine)
Turning the engine off / on and checking for throttle response each time yields no throttle response until around the 4th or 5th start of the engine then throttle response is back
Twice while driving the throttle response has stopped the same off/on trick gets it to resume
There are zero codes thrown indicating any sort of throttle issue
;
The only change to the ECU has been to remove the VATS (engine is stock).

Could this still be a pedal incompatibility issue or could it be something else causing this intermittent problem?

All thoughts welcomed.

Try unplugging the pedal and start it, see if you get codes. My bet is more than VATS was programmed out. I had the same issue.

I will try that this weekend and report what I find out. What was the final fix that got your pedal (APP) working properly?

Mine turned out to be a bad APPS to TAC cable. But my first "tuner" tuned out almost all possible codes.

Unplugged the pedal and started the engine - code u017 U0107 CADILLAC - Lost Communication With Throttle Actuator Control Module

Swapped TAC with another with same TMD1-160e1 number on it - cleared codes - worked for a few minutes and then again no pedal - same u0107
Swapped wire between app and tac - cleared codes - worked for a few minutes and then again no pedal - same u0107
Only thing I have not swapped out is the app. There are 2 different app sensor part numbers 699101 for the adjustable pedal, 692004 for the fixed pedal
Have no way to know what app/pedal originally came with the engine. Cadillac parts guy said that the 2005 model we have the only came with and adjustable app/pedal ????? not positive he was sure of his answer.
Considering purchasing the app sensor for the adjustable pedal and installing it on the fixed pedal (it looks like it will connect without issue. Do you see any problems with this approach. What could / should be done instead?

From some earlier posts, my understanding is that the adjustable pedal had less travel that the fixed. Not sure if there was a different tune since they share the same tac and ecu. But the adjustable apps on the fixed is worth a try.
