1971 A body LS swap help
1. I have seen that there are different frame stands for these cars. Mine is a big block Buick so my factory stands won't work, correct?
2. Here is a picture of one from an extra set that I had laying around the shop. Are these the ones I need? I have a set of DD's I plan to use.
3. How do I go about wiring my starter? Is there a guide somewhere that explains this? I would like to wire it all up to the firewall bulkhead. I think I'm making this part harder than it is. After all the reading I have done, I think I have just confused myself!
4. Can I wire the factory neutral safety switch under the steering column up and just use that?
5. What about the brake switch? I don't think the factory brake switch will work
I bought the Holley forward bias engine mounts and did not use any part of the mount in your picture on my A-body. This one inch or so of forward movement of my engine allowed much easier use of my 4L60E without cutting the floor pan - also could reuse my stock El Camino transmission crossmember. I then paired the Holley mount to a 2002 (I think) model year Camaro half of the engine mount. This also kept my driveline angles down the drive shaft to the differential nearly perfect.
I used my original 5.3 liter underhood battery to starter wiring harness and a few "Adel" clamps to attach it to the forward screws of my oil pan.
Neutral safety switch? I would think that depends on your body harness.
Brake switch? Correct. Your original won't work. A company called Performance System Integration sold me a modern brake switch that allows for the control of your 4L60E torque converter. At $21.99, it works perfectly for me from an electrical standpoint but it tends to loosen at the adjustment for the rear brake light at the brake pedal - but this is easily solvable.
