Default Ignition relay connection 71 nova

I have an 02 LS6 with a PSI harness that is installed in a 71 Nova.
The ignition relay is to be connected to a 12v switched power key on and cranking.
Where is this connected?
Do you connect to the fuse block on the ing tab or do you connect into the ignition switch wiring?
Where is the recommended location?

I connect this to a relay that I install, which is triggered off the coil wire from the ignition switch. The coil wire gets power when the ignition switch is in RUN and CRANK.

Thanks. Was focused on the under dash wiring. Never thought about the coil wire.

I didn't add a relay, I just tapped into factory switch wiring. Has been working great. I'm a newb so I don't know why people add additional relays when not needed for this? I'm sure there are some pros and cons?

I don't think there is a con to adding an ignition relay. The factory added it to take the load off the ignition switch. An ignition switch for a '71 Nova isn't really designed to have much power going through it, so you could easily overload it by running a whole LS harness plus the factory stuff through it. Also, to the OP, if you are using the coil wire from the bulkhead on the fire wall, you will want to change out the wire since the original wire is a resistor wire.

I kept the resistor wire and that was part of the reason I used a relay. The resistor wire has no issues triggering the relay. Been trouble free for 4 years.

Just make sure it's a pink wire. Do not connect to an orange wire. Pink is hot in start and run, orange is not.
