I know the stock pan hangs low. The stock pan will be cut about 2 inches and shortened I just need to figure out the pickup tube. I dont have access to my aluminum welder anymore but I am pretty decent with brazing rods. If i mess this pan up i have more to play with or I'll shell out the money for a muscle car pan. Project is based off of a budget so that is why I am utilizing the truck pan first.

On another note I have my harness connectors each individually rolled up back to the pcm and ready for wrapping. All I lack is my fuse block and wrap which I am trying to finish up today.

I have a buddy who might have an f-body pan laying around so he's checking for me. I got a hold of our stick welder so I can try to shorten the stock truck pan before I start looking at buying one but the last time I welded aluminum was like 10 years ago so it should be interesting.

No new updates besides my harness is almost complete (Needs a few wires spliced for power) and I started tearing into the 6.0 since the weather has been decent lately.

Harness looks like a mess but I just need to route them better and wrap them all together nicely with some harness wrap.

I got some time to pull the head on the drivers side from the blown up 6.0. #1 piston was at the top of the cylinder but the head shows no signs of any impact. The other cylinders looked incredible it's a shame I couldn't sleeve this and find a new crank and rod/piston and run with it.

shortning the oil pan means less oil capacity.

it all comes down to how ur gonna use the car.

Gen 4 Iron block ?

if yes, you can open it more than you will need, Go bigger piston.

Gen 3 iron block from a 2001. I'm going to tear it down more and further inspect the damage. For $150 I can have it fluxed, sleeved and final honed a stock bore, that would be the cheapest route I could take and if it came down to trying to budget the 6.0 build.

No major updates. Work and family has kept me busy busy. Motors built and I should get my starter today to fire it off on the engine stand.

Also I found a 1984 mercury capri for cheap as a donor car. This car came with 2 complete sets of interior, the original red and a grey set from a 1991. Going to keep the front clip and the interior and scrap the rest. Floorboards are rusted. Rear bubble back is rusted. Wiper cowl is rusted. Whole car is trash.

Seems I would only need 1 sleeve. Not sure if its worth messing with or try to find a 5.7/6.0 short block. It's that or build my 5.3 with better flowing heads and twin turbos which I am highly considering right now!

Slowly but surely making progress. I picked up an fbody oil pan from a local member and got my engine and transmission set.

Picked up some truck manifolds with 2.5" v bands welded on them for a good price so now I will start a slow turbo build.

Also I ripped out the porno red interior to paint my trim pieces and replaced a few wore out pieces.

The stock truck manifolds sure are a tight fight. I have been positioning stock manifolds to find best fitment for a turbo build but nothing really seemed to fit. Hopefully these v band manifolds fit a little better. More pics to come

So I have been keeping track on my.expenses so far and if it wasn't for me buying the 84 capri for parts I would still be ahead. I may try to sell some of the interior to recoup some money but I feel I have made out very well on this budget build. I am using a lot of parts I had laying around from other projects so this is keeping the bulk of my expenses down.

1984 mustang = free
Th350 = free
5.3 Engine = $40
Sheetmetal intake = Free
engine gaskets = $60
Fuel regulator = $38
Plugs & fittings = $130
Standalone harness = $30
Fuel pump = $30
LS swap parts = $405
Turbo Manifolds = $100
1984 capri = $500

Total = $1233
Sold ford engine and trans = $900

New total $333. I think I have enough spare interior to sell to break even on this build. Still a lot more is needed to finish but its coming along.

Struggling to get my engine fired up as the engine keeps flooding while cranking. I thought it was a stuck injector so I swapped out with another set that are known to be working and I have the same issue. After unplugging my injectors the engine will instantly fire up and run until it burns off all of the fuel in the cylinders. Would this mean my injectors are stuck open while cranking and not pulsating? I am going to check if they are pulsating tomorrow but I am just stumped on what else it could be.

How many injectors are stuck open, I would start by inspecting the harness, a injector light pulse would be very helpful and start from there.

Turned out to be a bad ground wire at my coolant temp sensor. Once I fixed that issue the car fired right up and runs flawlessly. Now I am finishing the wiring and reinstalling interior from my red to grey interior swap.

I like these capris because the have the flared fenders if you put a 87-93 nose on them they look mean

I am actually thinking about using the whole front clip from this car on mine. I like the flat front end and think if done right makes the car look very aggressive. Heres my idea

I do plan to keep the power steering. I think I have enough fittings to make the GM pump fit the Ford rack so that should be a easy hookup. I'm going to pull all of the accessories from my donor truck tomorrow to mach up and hopefully get the motor and trans pulled aswell.

Today Mark's 4 years since I sold my 92 GT that I SBC swapped. I miss this car it was such a clean and fast car.
