OBS Silverado/Sierra Engine Temp Gauge?

OBS Silverado/Sierra Engine Temp Gauge? I bought a 2000 OBS Silverado recently that someone did a very clean LS swap on. Everything works, but one thing that has been bugging me is the engine temp gauge. It works but isn't that accurate. It's consistent just not accurate which is what bugs me. The guy did the the 98 fbody three wire temp sensor conversion to run to the gauge. When the ECU is reading 195ish the gauge in the truck is only reading around 145.
My question is what do people normally do for the coolant temp for the 96+ vortec trucks?
If the answer is the three wire sensor, I'm wondering if there isn't an issue with resistance or something.

Thanks for the reply. If I can't figure out a stock option I may end up doing that. I've always had good luck with the Chevy trucks being quite accurate and I'd like to stick with the stock dash for now.

I was thinking about that too. I thought that I read somewhere though that the 98 Fbody sensor had the same output as the 96+ vortec trucks had. I was hoping someone would chime in to confirm/deny.
