Have you given a motor plate any consideration? I'm doing that on mine seems to be the easiest solution. If you have the firewall cut out makes mounting a mid plate easier too
I have thought about it. I'm just concerned about how it would work with the water pump and accessory spacing.

I hear you. I have a standard thickness plate with a corvette water pump and fbody balancer. Seems to line up close enough but may have to end up using an electric pump

I bought a Corvette water pump and balancer to get all the room I could in front of the engine. I also bought a Dirty Dingo alt mount set for the Corvette spacing.
The guy I sold my last Chevette too took it to the next level. He had Auto Weld build him a complete new front clip and rear clip. It fixed the exhaust problem. LOL
I’d say so.
Was that before the video of him tagging the wall at the strip? The quarter didn’t look bad besides where he opened up the wheel well.
Finished up the gussets on the motor mounts and finished trimming what needed to be trimmed in the trans tunnel. Everything up front clears. The crossmember, rack and even the sway bar.
What do I need for a u joint that will fit the Chevette rack? I assume I will need to cut the Chevette steering shaft and weld a piece of double d shaft in it?? I've never had to make a steering shaft before.
I don’t know the joint but as for welding in the shaft that’s all I did. Couple plug welds up top and all around the bottom. I took my time to not overheat the shaft it felt like it had a hardness tonit I didn’t want to mess with

I found out that the Chevette rack is a 5/8 36 spline. Do I need a 3/4" DD shaft to weld to the Chevette column?
Well no luck finding my spare u-joint to measure. Can’t get a tape or caliper down properly to the shaft on my car. But it’s definitely a double D shaft.
Starting to get my firewall made. I got the left and right sides ruffed in. I just want to get everything fit around the trans before I pull the motor and weld it up.
I keep looking at Corvette exhaust manifolds. I think the side profile of them wouldn’t be an issue but I think they will be to wide.
I needed some actual Chevette parts so I picked up another parts car. I wish I could get Camaro's this cheap everyday. This things a peach. Scabbed together floor and there's expanding foam between the hood skin and braces. Runs like a champ though and it's even got power steering. First time I've seen one with power steering.
Made some more progress on the trans tunnel tonight. Hope to have it finished up tomorrow. Atleast tacked up anyways. Then I need to figure out where and how I want to mount my pedals.
I got the passengers side of the trans tunnel finished this morning. I decided to widen the tunnel past the end of the trans because u joint clearance is limited. I’m happy with the way it’s turning out.
