Steering pump - no power at idle - LS conversion

78 vette - LSX B-15 engine - Ive fitted a cts-v power steering pump and kit, as part of my new LS conversion, ive got no power steering at idle 900 rpm, but when you bring the revs up to say 1500 rpm, it starts working again

the set up is rack and pinion steering rack, cts-v power steering pump, return line has a cooler on it, and the fitting into the power steering pump high pressure side, is a straight through fitting, others ive seen, have small holes in fitting, to maybe reduce pressure

any thoughts what the issue might be?

There was a chart here somewhere that gave tthe working pressures and possibly volumes of most common GM pumps. Try a search. I used it long ago when I first did the GTO.

For anyone thats interested - fixed the issue, purchased a new steering pump, fitted it today, works great, now have power steering at idle, must be something to do with the flow control valve maybe
