Ls3 (e38) + 2006 4l60e?
Ls3 (e38) + 2006 4l60e? I'm taking over a project that a previous shop screwed up. 1970 Cutlass 442, with a 2012 6.2L LS3 (58x) and what appears to be a 2006 4L60E.
It came with a brand new wiring harness, made by an unknown person. The E38 PCM has "PSI CONVERSIONS" sticker on it, but I was told the wiring harness was not made by them.
I randomly googled to make sure the 4L60E would work w/ the E38, and I ran into a bunch of "will not work without ISS".
The only thing I am confused on is, this new wiring harness has the 4L60E pigtail with a label on it "4L60E".... so the harness was made w/ the E38 knowing it would use a 4L60E - I'm wondering if the harness I have will work, or if whoever made it just stuck on a 4L60E pigtail... Part number on the smaller TCM that it came with is 24235340

I have a 6.2 out 2012 Silverado and asked the same question to Preforma Built transmissions. The older like LS1 4L60e can be built to work with the 6.2. But it does have to be configured correctly. I was looking a complete new trans so they said no problem. If I recall correctly the big plug for the trans has a different number of pins depending on the application. You might give them a call to see if they can help.
I called PSI Conversions, asked the question - and they seemed to act like there isn't an issue at all as long as the pins on the transmission are 15 or 17 (won't work with 13 pin). Must be something they do in the tune?
In the trans diagnostic tab of HP Tuners, disable P0717-ISS low, and also P1870-trans components slipping and you should be good to go.

Yes, it's something they do in the tune. They (PSI) uses a 2008 truck tune, last year of the 60E in a truck. You also have to turn off the ISS (input shaft sensor) in the tune, or it will cause your engine to pull timing and create havoc with your swap. I chased this **** for two years and nobody could tell me why it was doing this until we stumbled on it by accident.

Verdad Gallardo Check the tune file, it should list the transmission type. At top, click on edit, calibration details, then the controllers tab. Should list the trans controller as T42 and then A4 for 4L60E. Also, in tune overview, it shows the OS and year of vehicle. If it is 2008, should show A4. If they already did the segment swap, it will also show A4.
Also look under trans tab, shift general then gear ratio to right shows number of gears, or select normal under shift solenoid pattern and it will also show gears. There are several places to look to verify 4 speed auto.
