Anyone using this intake on their LS engine? It was rated very good all around the HR manifold test. It might be just the ticket for a mildly built LS like me Z06 cammed L33 5.3. I know it's alum. and heavier but it has a lower profile than the tbss.
My son in-law got one on a package deal and used it on an LQ4. It fit like **** and we had to use silicone around the gaskets in a few spots because no matter how careful we were it always had a vacuum leak somewhere. Had to modify the fuel rail hold downs to get the injectors to seal also.
I couldn't tell you if it made more power or not, He used it because it looked better than the truck intake.
I had considered the Tbss intake, the cost of the link adapter is almost as much as the Speedmaster intake and you still have a high profile unit. I was told the SM pce148 1004 would take the stock 3 bolt tb off my truck intake and the SM has a lower profile. I know it is a rough finish casting and might require a little cleaning up before painting. I didn't know there was a fitment issue, maybe yours was an isolated case. I did see a test where the SM scored as high as the tbss on both ends of the rpm scale. If I should decide to get one I will contact the manufacturer to verify any of my questions. With an L33 an Z06 cam I don't expect a big hp boost from the manifold. I want it for clearance and cosmetic reason as much as power.
Very interesting, didn't know there was such a variety. Here's my situation, I have an L33 going into a 98 S10 ss sb , 4L65E trans. and 8.6 3:42 rear end. Only mod to the engine is a Z06 cam.I only stand to gain 10-15 hp from the manifold swap.but clearance and esthetics is a consideration. I want to retain my stock 3 bolt tb, don't really need any bigger and won't have to buy the expensive connector link.I've just recently gotten into LS engines but I'm reading everything I can to increase my knowledge.I will keep the truck manifold until I'm satisfied another manifold will suit my needs. Thanks for your input, any suggestions are appreciated.
TBSS is your best choice, even considering the Xlink price. It makes the most power for factory intakes and holds it's own even against the Fast's, considering a huge price jump.

Stay far away from the ebay crap. The TBSS is best oem intake and they are new off amazon less than 150.00 in a GM box
