GM Output Speed Sensor That Does BOTH?
Now, I have to figure out how to get an electrical vehicle speed signal back to the PCM so that it will know when to command the shifts. Is there an OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR that has BOTH mechanical & electrical outputs on it?????? If so, can you link me to it.. That would be the easiest thing to do.. If such an animal does not exist, I will modify the extension housing to hold a speed sensor on the opposite side, and put the reluctor ring back on butting it right up against the plastic gear. I don't like to have to do hack work like that, but if I have to go that route I will do it as professionally as possible. I can TIG weld aluminum, and I also have a lathe and knee mill. But... an off the shelf speed sensor that can do BOTH would be the cats meow.
Next step is to explore whether the VSS signal can be used (split?) to send to ECU AND cruise control.
I was certain that I had seen a vehicle at some point in the past that had a speed sensor that had BOTH a mechanical output, and also an electrical output.
You mention Ford having such a device. What vehicle should I use as search criteria? If I can put my hands on one, I may have to explore what needs to be done to make it work on my application.

More than I wanted to spend...I went with a Dakota Digital ECD-100 to run the factory speedo in my wagon. Worked good on my 4l60 and now my T56.
I will post up results when I have something that will work.

I just ordered one.
Oh no, I wasn't going to spend that kind of money on my speedo...hell I usually spend about half that on a complete running LS powered Suburban...
Anyway, I saw that when I purchased my ECD-100. (I think I gave about $250 for it when I purchased it.) I just didn't realize that pulse generator was a cable pass through or I would have mentioned it to you. I always have used 4l60's, 4l80's, or T56's in my swaps so it wouldn't have helped me anyway.
Keep us posted on how it works. I'd like to know if I ever need one.
I ordered the sending unit through Amazon yesterday, and it's here today. No, I am NOT a prime member... Even without PRIME it was here the next day.
