1985 Volvo 240 swap Hey,so for my first swap I've been working on swapping a 5.3 LS with a 4L80e into my 1985 Volvo 240 DL. Everythings been going well so far except for the wiring. I was wondering how you guys that have done a similar swap have gotten power to the body harness and how you wired in the ignition. This is my first swap so things are going much better than I thought but the wiring has been a real kicker. I'll throw up pics when I can get them.

do you have a schematic for the 240?
I'm doing a swap on a v90 (960). Ignition is present at the engine controller but not in the engine bay. Since I no longer needed the engine harness wiring i re-purposed one of those wires to bring an ignition signal into the engine bay.

The old 240 wiring harnesses (in the eng compartment) are crap anyway. I completely removed everything to do with the OEM Volvo harness and ran new wiring for the gauges, etc. Get a schematic. It's not difficult to figure out. I used a PSI Conversions harness -- about 6 or 7 connections to make and they're all clearly laid out. I have a whole slew of OEM gauges and the idiot lights working as they did with the Volvo engine. Lambda Sond light is wired into the check engine light. You can pull wires from the back of the ignition switch for 12V+ in the "run" and "start" positions, and 12V+ start (to starter solenoid). Consult your schematic. The chassis harness wasn't touched on mine.

Sorry for the wait, I put up a reply with pictures but i guess it never posted. Either way I found some missing wires and my neutral safety switch. Everything should be wired in this weekend and with any luck I can do a first start by the end of the month.

Well I completely forget about this thread, sorry about that. Finals have kept me busy. I attempted a start but my engine didn't crank and my fuel pumps didnt have any power. Reviewing the wiring diagram and testing all my relays. But on a positive note the car didnt catch on fire.

Its been awhile sense I last updated here. For some reason it wont let me upload pictures here so instead I'll just put my YouTube channel on here where I've been documenting the whole thing. Looking at my last post a lot has happened sense I last posted. First start was beautiful and loud, found a radiator and a local shop to build me a driveline. Yesterday I got it running and driving. Now all that should be left is odds and ends, some upgrades to the brakes and suspension, some body work and maybe some paint and wheels in the future. Thank you guys for all of your help.
