You can cut down the Silverado harness yourself Info found here, Or you can buy a stand alone harness from a vendor, There are several. Or you can buy a Holley Terminator EFI X or X Max system for a little more and save a bunch of hassle. https://www.holley.com/brands/holley...x_max_ls_kits/

The Holley Terminator EFI X is the way to go, it will get your engine started without any tuning experience, or Tuner needed. Then you can learn to tune as you go if you dont know how to already.
The Harness is all there, and it has the screen for your vital signs. Saves lots of time and headaches.

I highly recommend getting a 3-day, $20 subscription to https://www.acdelcotds.com/subscriptions to download the wiring diagrams for the S10. Money well spent.
Edit: Not sure what will be available for a 1996. The info available for my 2000 S10 was great but a few other 90's models (non-S10) that I looked up weren't that complete.
