Default Difference 3M 08509 and 08609 sealant?

Does anyone know the difference between the 3m 08509 and 08609 sealer? I need to seal a heater box to a fire wall. Everything I am reading online makes these two seem interchangeable?

Thanks,
Brandon

no it doesn't.

one is permanent pliable. Probably modern vereion of butyl.
The other is window weld urethane.

Read up. 3M has pdfs out there.

I did read up on 3ms website as well as various distributors. According to the descriptions they both are permanently pliable, and what distinguishes one on one website will then be flipped on another, and 3ms description is ambiguous as best.

Excellent! Now that you have narrowed it down, go to a supply house for paint and body and make them earn the sale by advising you on the product.

The product you're considering holds windshields in and probably isn't what is ideal for a GM fiber HVAC suitcase IMHO. In general, sealing the top area allows the case to divert water and the whole thing isn't sealed in with never-dry product.

YMMV.

Or rather than solely deal with hourly wage employees who have no experience and simply read descriptions from a quick google search on their workplace desktop , I could ask the question on a very specific web forum to people who have real world experience using the product, and after I combine all of those difference personal experiences I can then compile them with other information I gather from the web to make the most informed decision possible, because that's how thorough information gathering and educated decisions happen.

What I'm trying to say here is I'm not looking for instructions on how to surf the internet and go ask counter-monkees, I have already done those things before asking the question, I'm looking for people who have personal experience with these products. If anyone has experience with these through projects or professional involvement I would be very interested in your insight.

Back in the day the heater boxes were sealed by "strip caulk" that goes in kind of a groove that is molded into the heater box housing. I'm assuming it's a stock heater box of some sort.
Or go to a body shop and ask them. If they recommend a two part sealant they may be nice enough to give a the small amount needed to seal the box. Two part stuff is typically kind of expensive.

Thanks. Unfortunately this heater box had a somewhat thick rubber gasket that isn't reproduced anymore. It came off pretty well the first time so I tried to run a small amount of caulk strip on the front and back side of the gasket, but I think the gasket just won't seal, so I'm going to try to replace it with a liquid type caulk.
