Default Fuel system design

Putting this here so it doesn't get lost in my build thread.

I'm currently working on my fuel system in the '69 GS California. I'm running a return style truck manifold on the LM7 5.3.

I'm running an external pump and filter at the rear of the car. This will plumb into the stock fuel line. At the mid-point of the car I'm planning to plumb in the LS1 Corvette filter (PGF336) this feeds a single line on one end and has a quick connects at the other end (3/8 feed and 5/16 return). I have seen this run in the front half of the system and others say close to the fuel tank.

So what is correct? I'd like to plumb this correctly the first time as I have all the parts to complete it this way. Does anyone see an issue running it this way?

Continuing to read up on the subject and not getting any where fast.

Same filter as Andrew's GTO. Looks like it is by the fuel tank area

If the engine already has a regulator you don't need the filter/regulator. The above diagram looks wrong. Line into the regulator comes from pump. Return line goes to tank. 3rd line goes to engine. No other lines to or from engine!

G Atsma - Here is the pic of the engine side of the fuel system.

I do need to run the line from the truck intake (lower line, 5/16 return) somewhere. I had read that the corvette filter was the way to go. Believe it was Super Chevy on a Chevelle swap. If I understand this, the Vette filter regulator could be omitted, and run the return back to the tank itself. I can do it that way as the pressure regulator is part of the truck manifold at the hard line connection.

Right! You have a regulator on the manifold already. Just run the return line back to the tank. Very simple.
The Vette filter/regulator is so you can run only one fuel line to the engine. You do not need that.

Sounds like another "back on the shelf" part. Should I run a simple bulkhead fitting on the sending unit of the tank then? Didn't want to drop the tank again, but sounds like I'll have to. Sender is only a single 3/8 feed. The dual line sender is a 1/4 inch return for a Chevelle. Didn't see a difference by going with the GS400 sender.
I replaced the sender & tank when I fuel injected the Big Block Buick. So all is new there (read: no junk in the tank). Has a 1/4 tank of fuel in it though

While you don’t need a second regulator, you will need a filter somewhere between tank and regulator.
