I hear ya. Carry on, .030 is still workable. I once bought a 5.3 that sat with water inside as well. .020 cleaned it up, but each one is different.

WOW! Been over 3 months.

Been keeping a low profile after enduring more complications and a 2nd spinal surgery 5 weeks ago. For the first time in almost a year I can stand and walk erect without pain and a cane and actually sleep in a bed again. Most important, I am back in the garage trying to make some progress without hurting myself. Hope to have some help putting the engine/trans in the car in a couple of days, then it's turbo plumbing fabrication and wiring, which I can handle.

I'll get some new pics up when I can.

There were times over the last couple of months when I thought I might have to abandon the project, but the last major physical hurdle has been cleared. The engine is assembled and in the car with the tranny. Next up is a tricky hot side and full exhaust then the electronics.

Mustang GT m/c, brake prop valve, line-loc, frame-mounted turbo support bracket, original lower radiator support was discarded and replaced with a beefier one that is lower and more forward and also supports the I/C. Not so obvious is the mod needed to the F-body alternator to make it fit in a F-body location but with Corvette spacing.

Dual Walbro 450s with big trap door. Those familiar with the 240 series will note that the 2nd hanger is placed up high and towards the front of the tank. However, the feed tube is angled rearwards such that the filter/sock is about .5 inch from the rear of the tank.

Battery mounted in pass-side spare tire well and the original tiny fuel tank vent modded to 8AN.

Still can't stand for long periods yet, so getting pretty good fabricating from a chair

Truck PS manifold on the DS side, CTS-V DS manifold on the PS, 2.25" crossover, 50mm WG, 4" DP, transition to 3.5" at the steering rack, dump at the tranny x-member, then single 3" to the rear with a muffler. All SS.

Need to do the WG, get the cross-over and WG TIG'd, fab the 3" and MIG everything under the car and fabricate hangers. Super tight fit, so will be using lots of wrap, probably up to the tranny pan and fab some shielding around the fuel tank.

Cold side is mostly done and out being TIG'd.

Did it the hard way because I didn't want to undersize the DP, get burnt pulling the PS plugs or having the exhaust out the fender fender or the hood.

Does anything else mechanically support all that weight (turbo, etc.) hanging/levered off the end of that exhaust piping?

The turbo itself is mounted on a stout and well-braced bracket fixed to the frame rail (03:00 in the first pic) and as stated, I have to fab hangers. Because everything is so tight, it's easier to fabricate hangers as needed than trying to mod off-the-shelf ones.

Sorry man - missed it; disappeared in "black". Motor solid mounted or the exhaust flexors handle movement?

Yeah, the turbo support bracket has black 2000* hi-temp paint. I'm using the Giffen swap kit, so engine is mounted solid with poly tranny mount.

Their motor mount approach looks almost identical to what I fabbed for mine.

I have been catching up on a lot of your build/troubles and solutions with the mustang. I'm chasing the same voltage issue you were(going to use your solution on my Goldbox with EFI Source harness)

Really happy to see another LS 240 in the mix. Mine is getting redone right now. Old setup went 9.9@140 on a gen 3 4.8, cast gen 1 7875, deka 80's and a footbrake th350. New setup will be an L33 Billet 80mm, 1.80 transbrake powerglide and 235 Drag radial and 3.27 8.8. Goals for this year or next year is an 8.xxx in the 1/4 at well over 150mph

Also I LOVE your solution for the downpipe. I took the easy way out and did a fender dump

Thanks. Glad to see you here. Your stuff was a go-to reference when planning mine out. Would have liked to set the same goals for mine as the setup will be capable, but I'm listening to my body and limiting the car to 149.9. No parachute planned.

The DP and plumbing has been a challenge. Impatiently waiting for the TIG welding to be finished...2 weeks. Often threatened to buy one but could never justify the cost. Ironically I could have bought one with what I've dished out to have things TIG'd. Too late now as this is my last project.

Made some progress however. Made several mods to the Terminator X harness to suit my needs and how I have stuff positioned. No point trying to show that with a pic.

FP wiring complete and just needs the relay triggers and batt power and ground.

PS kick panel with the ECM, SSR for the t-brake, fuse panel and the master relay.

Final trial fit for the shifter. Have to drill the hole and run the shifter cable.

Well ****, thank you for that! I tried to document EVERYTHING including the failures and mistakes. Glad it helped somebody. There's a LOT more detailed version of the build on turbobricks forums under the same username as here.

If you haven't fully burned the upper axle mounts in yet Giffin has a different set that offer one additional hole of adjustment above the "normal" one. I'm going to be replacing my current set with the new version to get a little more anti-squat into the rear suspension. He also has "torque box" reinforcement plates. Not sure if he's advertising them yet but me and another turbo LS 240 guy are gonna be grabbing them to keep from ripping the uppers or folding the lowers.

I probly should have gone with switching to a normal drag oriented coilover but wanted to stay stock suspension pieces for some unknown reason. I will be installing the GAZ Double adjustable rear shocks and the GAZ single adjustable front drop in shocks on mine. Hopefully the valving on them is close enough to let the suspension really work.

I think you'll be shocked how stable these cars are at speed compaired to a foxbody. They are built so much better as far as a factory chassis is concerned.

Very close to lighting the fuse, but USPS is taking some of the pieces I need on a tour of the USA "on the way to the next facility". I also have some minor wiring to do but these days my body doesn't like working under the dash, so taking it slow.

Since I know someone will ask, the vacuum port in the back of the intake was broken and repaired without the port so that explains the line behind the TB to the vacuum block. Repaired intake has seen 24psi on another engine. Still need to do the crankcase vent tank and hoses.

Installed some Honda Civic seats. They'll get cleaned up when I detail the interior. Also want to replace that 16" boat steering wheel and set up switches for the line-loc and t-brake without screaming race car.

Finished trunk

It's alive!

Only ran it for about 2mins as I have a major fuel leak at a 10an PTFE fitting and some other minor first time startup issues. Should be no problem getting those sorted out.
