Default Intake Manifold Question

I'm new to this forum and have an accessory question: I have recently dropped an LY9 6.0 from a 2008 Chevy 2500 into my 2008 GMC Canyon 4x4 and the major part is completed. It fits nicely and actually looks factory! One of my many minor snags is finding an access port to the intake for the brake booster. On the rear of the manifold facing the firewall where I've seen other boosters connected, is a plug of some sort that can be moved in and out and rotated, but I don't want to force it to try to remove it. Can someone please tell me what it is and how I can install a vacuum fitting? Bob

Welcome to LS1Tech Bob! The plug is there because the 2500 trucks and vans utilize hydra boost braking, which relies on the power steering to produce power breaks. No vacuum is needed for brakes, so the intake port is plugged off. The plug removes easily by simply pushing in on the collar around the plug while pulling out on the plug. After it’s out you’ll need a nipple to put there. You can grab these from any GM plastic intake using the same manner you removed the plug. The nipple just snaps in. Seems shady, but works just like a quick connect fitting on a clutch line or fuel line. Same principle. If you can’t find a donor nipple, pm me. I might have one around here I’d send your way.

Default Thank you

To Che70velle,
Thank you for your response. After I created my post, went back out and found how to remove the "plug" by releasing the red collar(which you already knew). I then fired up the dinosaur and began my search. It wasn't two minutes and I found it on Ebay for $4.05 & $3.95 shipping. Hopefully it will be here soon. I searched earlier but I used the wrong key words and came up with everything that I wasn't looking for!!! After all this I went back a found your quick response. So far everything is going together nicely. I've been using mostly H3 Alpha parts. After I complete the induction, I'll be sending off to Current Performance for my harness and getting the ECM and Trans controller updated!
