Default Gen 5 L83 MAF Sensor Location

I got my L83 with LT1 intake going into a Defender 110 and I'm trying to figure out the intake. I figured out 4" tube, Maf sensor at least 10" from TB and in the middle of a 6" straight section. I've tried a bunch of different routings and cone filters etc and I can't get 6" of straight tube, it's more of an "S" tube with about 4-5" max straight.

I have to go across the alternator and then up over the AC compressor then under the passenger fender, I can't see any other way. Of course hood clearance, shock towers, AC fittings among other things are in the way of anything else. Just wondering what I should do or if 5" straight would be enough. (insert jokes here haha).

Put it in the middle of the 5" section. I bet it works....

I might have to but I found another air filter, number 4, that has a bigger surface area but nice and flat so I might be able to come up with something better. Just have to wait for Summit now.

on the trucks with L83, MAF is built into the tube coming off the air filter housing. So it's not really straight in upstream of it but definitely is downstream. hope that helps.

The vehicle in this picture has replaced the stock intake hose with an air raid MIT, but retains the stock filter box. MAF circled in red.

I think it makes a difference which type of MAF is used to determine location. The requirements for the screen type are different than the vane stuck in the tube type. The screen is less sensitive than the vane, enabling it to be against the airbox. The screen straightens airflow, and the vane needs straight flow via straight ducting.
