Brake booster port plug

Default Brake booster port plug

I am changing my brake system to hydroboost. On vehicles with hydroboost the port where the vacuum booster would normally goes gets a plug. I used to know the GM part number but can't find it anymore.

Does anyone have the part number for the plug that goes in that port? Or have one to sell?

Never seen just the plug from GM. Only the vacuum port nipple.

ICT Billet makes one.

If you still have the nipple just cap it.

I could do that but I choose not to. I think a hard plastic piece is more durable than a rubber cap. And it’s not a big dollar part it’s just difficult to find the part number. But I am working on it. If and when I get the part number I will post it in case someone is looking for in the future.

A rubber cap is flexible and will age as well as a plastic piece. Hardness is no indicator of being age-proof.

I would maybe buy that if you could get a good quality rubber cap, but sadly these days you can only get Chinese quality crap. I capped the booster port on my LS1intake when I went to hydroboost and it only lasted a year or so before it split where the barb of the nipple was and the end almost fell off of it. Replaced it and it did it again in a year or so. It has a small hose with a cut down bolt in it now, no problems for years since doing that. Its not pretty, but in my car you can't see it so it doesn't affect my OCD too much. LOL

I had a part number for the plug years ago, but now I can't find it anywhere.

when i converted to hydroboost, i took the fitting out and cut off the nipple then taped the end and filled it with jb weld. once it was cured i plugged it back into the manifold. ran it for years, up to about 20psi boost. no problems.

I am a fan of JB Weld and have used it for many things. I would be afraid that JB Weld pug would break free and from there it is right into the valve train, no thanks. I am glad you never had a problem.

how would it break free? its like an inch long in the hole and jb weld itself is an adhesive? its cool you don't want to do it but thinking it will fail is a bit dramatic.

I can understand where you are coming from. But when ICT make a $15 solution and if I can get the GM part number it's probably a $5 part I don't feel like its being "dramatic" on a $15,000 connect and cruise package to remove even the slightest concern?
