Default Brake booster

I have an L33 swapped into my S10. I need a brake booster that will clear the fuel rail/coil covers. I've been looking for a factory booster that is 8", but dimensions seem to be elusive. It's been suggested that hydroboost be used, but that's not really an option right now. Any suggestions?

I'm going with a hydro boost off an astro van. I bought one for $25 with the master and prop valve.

With braided lines and fittings I'll have about $150 in it.

Not personally, no, I’m just familiar with how small they are. Instead of one large diaphragm like most boosters, they use two small diaphragms. They’re much deeper, however. Not sure if that may be a problem. Take a tape measure to a junkyard, there’s always at least a few V6 SN95’s in there, that’s the booster you want anyways.

I have a 8" Tuff stuff booster in my 94 s10. I swapped my truck almost 9 years ago. I keep saying I am swapping to hydro, but still haven't.

I believe it's 2223NB, but not positive.

I researched, and if I remember correctly the c3 Corvette had one that would also fit and I believe the Fiero. I'm not sure if your just looking for a junkyard solution or what.

Are you using the fuel rail covers?? Got pics of the clearance back by the booster? I'm open to anything that fits, and will work with my mc and abs...Thanks.

You’re gonna have to use whatever master fits the booster. Unless your ABS module is part of your master, it’s not gonna affect your ABS.

I'm sure the master will fit. The problem with the master/abs combo, is that 2000 was a matched set...not sure why. CPW said the abs wouldn't work, so we did some research, and came up with the 2000. It works fine. I also have the gauge to set the booster rod to mc distance. I'm going to call Tuff stuff tomorrow to confirm/deny fitment.

BTW..had my truck tuned at Wongs on Hwy 99 in Salmon Creek.

Here are a couple. Jared usually knows what will or won't work, especially on a s10. Mines been done almost 9 years. I bought his harness way back then. It's ugly, but it's literally a daily driver, snow, rain and sunshine.

On my buddies S10 we just relocated the coils. I believe this is what he bought.

The coils aren't the problem. Corvette coils and brackets. The issue is the pin that the cover snaps into. Might have 1/8 between the pin and the booster.

I had Corvette frcs on it at one point. I didn't have the correct clips, I just used the ones that clipped on the actual fuel rail. But yeah they should clear with no issues.

The guys that have the pins for the arcs are pretty proud of them. A friend has a Corvette performance shop near him. He got me all 5 pins for $25. Thet want almost that much per on eBay. I've had a lot on my plate between the flooring and getting the AC hoses fitted and crimped. Not a lotto room left...especially since there wasn't much to begin with. Going to call Tuff Stuff tomorrow just to confirm dimensions.

Thanks for your help.

Well...I didn't want to hit and run. The Tuff Stuff 8" booster solved a couple of problems. The fuel rail covers fit and clear perfectly. I developed a vibration that I was having trouble tracking down. I thought it was a transmission problem so I took it to a shop. I got a geared that worked on it...trans was fine...nothing loose. For whatever reason, the booster was causing the vibration when stopping.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and help.

I'd love to see pics of your a/c. I'm still hoping to have a turbo under the hood, and a/c. I'm going to swap out the factory box for a vintage air mini, because as you said, there's not a lot of room under the hood of a s10. It fills up fast.

I'll get some pics in a day or so. I'm pre-painting some siding. I'd rather do its while it's horizontal on the ground instead of 2 stories up. You're right...not much extra real estate under the hood. Still not happy with my ac yet. I'm going to call Cold Hose and see about some more custom fittings.
