We are getting there!

The next step is to get a prototype printed in PLA to confirm fitment.

A generous fillet was added around the BOV mount and here is the final part:

I ordered a prototype printed in PLA and it was less than $100 shipped. The aluminum part should come in under $600.

Not only is the intake lower, but the throttle body mounting flange is also moved back, substantially, which generally improves fitment.

With the lower intake, now there is ample room to reuse the shaker scoop. The shaker scoop is such a unique feature of this build, that I really do not want to change it.

That is beautiful. I might need to look into grabbing one of these up. It would save a lot of time and fabrication when it comes to plumbing.. I have a treadstone intercooler but I'm sure I can sell it.

If you're interested in the one that I took off, PM me.

We are living in marvelous times.

If I can only find the BOV in a box somewhere so I can confirm fitment....::facepalm::

Here is the updates design. The BOV location was moved, the logo was moved, and there wall thickness on the little nipple by the compressor exit was increased (not visible).

Hey Andrew! The latest changes are impressive. I didn't know the 3d mapping could work like that on something like a charge pipe. I also agree with the movement of the BOV. From a looks standpoint I think it will be better. In regard to the shaker, have you thought about mounting it to the hood? I know it won't be a "real" shaker at that point but that new intake looks sooooo nice. Keep it up, I look forward to when we can buy this whole drivetrain as a package.

Hi Alex,

Nice to see you're still following along.

I don't have a problem with mounting the shaker to the hood, except I don't know how to do it...

I'm open to suggestions.

Here is the second prototype printed in carbon reinforced PETG.

I like the new BOV placement and the slightly repositioned logo.

The next step is to have the final version printed in aluminum.

While the intake pipe is being made, I had my friend Blake design me another little part. He then printed some prototypes on his home 3D printer.

These are mounts for the fuel rails. They will be printed out of stainless steel.

Here is bracket that came with the intake manifold kit.

Default Great Stuff Happening Here

Stealing all of your ideas! Do you think that with the new, lowered intake, you can fit the shaker?

Yes. That was the main motivation behind swapping to the lower intake. I wanted to retain the shaker x even though it won't be functional. The next design project is the mount for the shaker.

The 8HP90 that I picked up had a mystery converter in it. It didn't look stock and frankly I didn't trust it. So I called up Circle D and had a discussion about my requirements. Here is what they suggested:

This is their hybrid 8HP90 converter. Externally it is the same size as the 8HP70 converter, which is 1/2" smaller in diameter than a stock 90 converter, but internally it is built to work with the 8HP90 transmission.

Here you can also see the Domiworks bellhousing adapter.

and the Domiworks converter adapter.

I had a little care package delivered today. Here are the fuel rail brackets, printed in stainless steel.

Tomorrow I will drill and tap as needed and maybe run the sides over some emery cloth on a granite block.

I used a bench-top drill press and a step drill to open up the holes on the front and on the bottom.

Here they are mounted to the intake and holding up the fuel rails.
