Default LS1 diy fixed belt tensioner?

I’ve been looking at the stock LS1 auto belt tensioner and after having it walk the belt off during a track pass, and seeing it auto-adjust while revving the motor, I’m thinking why not just take a longer metric bolt and go through the pulley out the backside - and put a bracket or heim/clevis onto the outhanging bolt, and connect it to something so the auto tensioner is now fixed? Maybe even put an adjuster or turnbuckle on it to tighten the belt..?

I know I can buy a fixed tensioner for like $60 online, but perhaps a local hardware store can solve the issue for less than $12 with a part I already have.

Anyone ever done this? I’d like to see your example if so. Thanks.

I think the belt goes slack on decel and you just need a pulley with a taller rim like the LS2.

I can see how the the taller lip pulley would help. However, I thought most have found that alone wasn’t enough...!? And that fixating the pulley tight was the answer.
