Default Sources for salvage engine transmissions

I haven't had much luck buying a donor car for my 67 Camaro. I've been bidding on copart, searching ebay and craigslist also but there has to be a better way. When I did my 6.0L 4L80E swap in my K5 I bought the drivetrain from a salvage yard on the east coast for a great price. I have no recollection of how I got in contact with the guy but it was probably from asking a similar question on here 15 years ago.

Anyone know of any salvage yards that have good prices on drivetrains shipped? The combo I'm after this time is a Denali Escalade L86 8L90 2WD drivetrain.

I’ve seen that combo on flea bay. Yard from Texas has them from time to time

Not a L86, but from what I understand the L8T is much easier to install into older cars due to the center mount water pump and a power steering pump. Downside is it has an iron block, but the upside is it's 6.6 vs. 6.2.

I've used car-part.com with good luck. The 8 speed trany does not get any love up in the auto trans forum.
