Vintage air usable with ecm?
I know questions like this have been asked over and over but with all the searching I have done I haven't really found a clear answer yet. I have a 1970 Chevelle with an LQ4 from a 2005 chev express van, the car also has vintage air and dual flexalite fans. I'm trying to wire the A/C so the ECM knows when it comes on. The ECM controls my fans and I would also like for it to know so the idle will be bumped when the A/C comes on. As it stands the fans are wired with relays to the ECM, the A/C isn't wired to anything yet but i do have the option of either a binary or trinary switch if one would be easier. I am using the vintage air control panel and their ECM to control the A/C I just want the LS ECM to recognize the A/C is on to turn on the fans an d bump the idle.
Hopefully someone has successfully done this and will chime in.
Thanks
The module has a pin out to the E92 ECM X1 pin 32 for AC request (AC compressor clutch relay control), through a relay to get the ground signal. I have to go back to my notes to verify how I wired it up. I added a factory AC sensor to the high side of the AC system, got that from BPAutomotive. Mitch made me a plug to go from that sensor to the ECM with three more pin outs.
Pin 6 AC pressure sensor signal
Pin 21 AC pressure sensor 5V reference
Pin 22 AC pressure sensor low reference
I did a complete rewire from scratch so that's as far as I've gotten, hopefully it will help. I can see how you could have it control one fan relay but I'm no help to you with the dual fans or high/low control. I think I'm going to start testing my electrical today but I won't have it running for a while so I can't even confirm if it works yet.
