This going to be a one of a kind build for sure but to truly make it the best of both worlds its got to be a 4X4.
It had crossed my mind with a million LS swaps with 4wheel drivetrain. However there is hardly a need for 4wheel drive in hawaii outside a Tacoma or 4runner. They got that **** on lock down on the island.
My 06 AWD V8 4runner has beach time covered.
I was more going for sleeper that will be a blast to drive.
4x4 and 4bt cummins were kicked around.
Do you plan on making your own brackets to mount the sub-frames? If you plan to buy them, I found a place recently called Dobbertin Performance who makes really nice mounts specifically for doing a project like this.
My front and rear kits came, OMG beefcakes. Super high quality, precision casted. They are amazing and WELL worth the money. I'll post pics soon.
‘Course the track’s about 6” wider and the firewall would have to come back about 6” and the DS tunnel won’t accommodate the torque tube. Otherwise it’s bolt on.

Love it. I try not to think about the fact that the wheelbase on a C5 Corvette is within an 1/8" of the wheelbase on my 242 Volvo.....
Do it do it.
I have to extend torque tube and impeller shaft 20.75inches
but requires a custom built quad wrapped carbon fiber shaft.
with new d-couplings its $4,000
🤪 thats more than I paid for the whole corvette or 51 chevy truck. But its worth it to have 50/50 weight spilt and rear mount transmission.
Well hopefully the title was enough to get some of y'all to click and comment.
Here's build as its going.
This is going to be one very cool ride when you're done with it. But I feel like we're missing the full story. You've mentioned the Carolinas (where the Vette was/is?), Utah, and Kauai.
Soooo... you live on Kauai. Do you travel for work, or for pleasure, or how did you end up in Utah and the Carolinas?
The truck was found in Utah? What's the story on how you found / acquired the truck?
And then the Vette was found in the Carolinas, and you tore it down there? Why not just tow the Vette to where the truck is and do it all in one spot?
