How do you run cruise with an E38

it you are handy with wiring, you can snag a bcm from a truck, and have your tuner load the truck vin in your e38 ecu. Connect power, ground, CAN bus wires to the bcm. get the specific resistor values for the cruise switches and wire up a few push button (momentary swutches). I found the values and diagram in all data. you will also need the brake switch and brake light inputs to the bcm. Its much cheaper than the aftermarket systems.
the bcm is generally a one time program box so it's easier to program a matching ecu.
u wrench it has bcm for about $30. just remember to get the vin to marry the ecu to the year, make and model bcm and ecu file. it does not work for all years and chassis but it does work for some.
Another option is to spend $600 and get one of these.

I have a 6.2L running on an 08 Corvette E38 ecu. Use the Dakota Digital cruise with my Rostra cruise control stalk on the steering column. Rostra actually engineers/manufactures Dakota Digital's DBW cruise unit. Works as well as the OEM cruise in our daily drivers.
