Doing a 5.3 swap in a boat, lots of complications but I'm determined. If I run straight raw water from the lake to the zo6 water pump I'm using will it kill it?? I've heard that the dex cool lubricates the pump but then I've heard different so I thought to ask here. I have a closed circuit cooling system for it where it can use a heat exchanger but the space and hose routing is proving to be a nightmare and I want it on the water for tuning before the sun goes to bed lol.
Coolant isn't allowed on many tracks so lots of guys run straight water. It won't kill it, especially as a temporary solution. After a few years of straight water I get a little buildup but the stock pump nor the Davies Craig have failed.
