Illinois emissions on swap vehicles

Illinois emissions on swap vehicles Searched google for at least 12 hr all the information I’ve got was pretty much outdated due to law changes or websites not working. Anyway I want to pic up a 06 BMW 330i and swap a ls in it only drawback is that I live in Illinois where emissions will be a big problem for me. I’ve read that I could piggyback the Gm ecu off the Holley terminator and that should work. Looking for anybody with some insight on passing emissions with you obd2 vehicles, is there a better way, could I just run a 0411 ecu with no Holley? Thanks for the help.

That said, what do they actually check during the test? Is it a rolling sniffer test or just a "readiness" check through the OBDII port?

I think that is your trick right there. You will need a vin in that ecu. all they do is plug in the connector and it passes or not based on the scan of the car they did when they opened the door. i do believe you can change vin but you need someone to do it.
