ZF8HP Transmission swap
It seems that over the last few years the ZF8HP transmissions have been getting very popular in various vehicle swaps.
This is a poll to gauge interest in adapting the ZF8HP70/90 to a LS engine.
Thanks in advance.

I looked into this for a while before pulling the trigger on my 4l80, pricepoint was the biggest factor. If i wasnt on a college budget I would have an 8speed...

Alot of people that have swapped them had issues controlling them properly, if all the issues and bugs are worked out then im sure they would be a popular choice. Ive looked at the dct swaps as well and those things may as well be made of gold for the $$ that they want for the swap (seemslegitgarage).

Also, most of the kinks have been worked out today.

I went ahead and selected I am interested since some day I would like to finish the swap I already started.
it would have been cool if I had finished what I started back a few years ago but that just didn’t happen.
I’m always interested in reading about the latest new options out there.
the 8hp is a better choice than a dct in my option. It shifts as fast or faster and is far simpler to control from an algorithm standpoint.

I agree and the 8hp is much more affordable and comes in many different vehicles. If the kinks are worked out with the turbolamik stuff then id be interested in one for sure. Ive heard they are pretty big, how do they compare to a 4l80e in size?
This guy scrapped his setup and was using the turbolamik setup but claimed there was no support
not trying to hijack or say anything negative just want to clear up the issues side of things.

its definitely not a 'buy it and go' proposition. i got about 75-80% through the design and development of my swap and it really didnt seem like anything completely insurmountable with much more than time and a little more money but i tend to enjoy fairly advanced projects but dont always stay interested. if you can solder, understand electronics, and have some patience i dont see it being too hard of a build.
relying on someone else like turbolamik or another tcu vendor i can see would be a problem. if you need support and cant get it youre stuck. if youre making your own tcu and writing your own code you can just keep plugging along.

Gentlemen,
I appreciate all of the input and the voting. I will have some comparison 3D models posted shortly that will compare the Dodge Charge 8HP70 with both a T56 and a 4L80e. I think there is a broad understanding in the swap community as to what it takes to install a T56 or a 4L80 into the projects of our choice. So having images that compare the 8HP70 to those transmissions will give people a very realistic understanding of what modifications might be needed to the 8HP70. From what I have seen so far, an 8HP70 should fit anywhere that a T56 fits, with minimal if any alterations to the transmission tunnel.

To any V8 Chevy bellhousing would be nice including small block, 454 and Duramax. Only real difference is crank spacing between them.

When used in OEM applications, I don't believe that 1st gear is used in cars, but it is used in the truck applications if needed. Cars are generally configured to start out in 2nd gear.
I am not trying to make adapters, but I like what Domi-Works makes.
