What Ratio T56 Magnum to go with?
Hey everyone,
I have an LS2 swapped Mitsubishi 3000gt that I am wanting to put a T56 Magnum in. I am unsure which ratio to go with and want to see if you guys had any advice. The goal of the car is to be a track/canyon car, no drag racing. Engine wise I will be installing a mild cam and supporting mods. The rear end ratio is 3.307 and tires are 24.5 inches tall. What would you guys recommend for my situation?
Thanks,
ACoop

Re: the 2.9x / 0.63 Magnum,
Your tires are shorter and your rear gear is taller than an LS2 GTO. Go test drive one. Gears 1-4 are near identical to a Magnum wide ratio. They are evenly spaced but wider percentage drop (than the 2.66 boxes.)
5-6 are a little taller in the GTO than the Magnum.
If you find you really want the 1-4 closer together, the 2.66 unit is an option. It wouldn't hurt to drive something with those ratios.

Given the short tires, I would go with the 2.66 / 0.50 version. Personally I really like the .50 overdrive for the highway. I like being able to cruise at 75MPH at 1800RPM.
I think ultimately the answer will be based on what is important to you.
