Lmk and L83 comparability. What all is interchangeable between a Gen 3, Gen 4, and an L83. I have a low mile L83. I own several Gen 3 and Gen 4 vehicles. I would like to use the short block L83 if possible with Gen 3 or Gen 4 top end. I have aftermarket good flowing heads if I can't use the the L83 heads. I'm just curious if I can get past the reluctor change out will the short block work. Are they physically interchangeable? Say you want to use the L83 crank, rods, and pistons in a Gen 3 block.
GEN V Crank will fit any LS
It's 58x and has a slip on crank sprocket. Otherwise, the same dims. Same stroke, same bearings etc
It does have an 8 bolt flexplate flange, so use the GEN V flexplate or LSA/LT1 flywheel
LS 2004+ and Gen V rods are identical. Not counting 4.8's
GEN V pistons have unique dish shapes and are mirrored from what LS need in regards to valve clearance. Stick to LS pistons

Man use those l83 heads are amazing and the intake options are much better than the ls stuff. Richard Holdener has a 5.3 sbe l83 with ported heads, cam, intake thats over 560hp NA. Its a cam thats in the 230’s so nothing huge either.
