Default Melting Spark Plug Wires

Recently got my 2000 GMC Sonoma 5.3 swap on the road. The first several drives were a complete let down, the truck was seriously down on power, after some investigation I realized I'd melted through at least two OEM plug wires (with heat boots) and the truck was running with atleast one (probably more) cylinders down. I've since replaced the plug wires with Taylor 79213 that have been working so far (the truck shreds), but still sit probably 1/8" from the header (running ebay S10 swap headers). I'm worried these new wires may end up melting as well.

Any recommendation for low profile / slim spark plug wires to accommodate tight headers??? I've heard some folks mention running the wire / lead straight to the spark plug and using a slim (cut to length) tube over the lead... wondering if anyone's had luck with something like that.

In the TBSS world a lot of people buy cheap headers and have spark plug issues. Most have swapped to Accel ceramics 9070C, give those a look.

On my LS swaps I use the stock tin shields that go around the spark plug boot. I get them at salvage yards for almost nothing.

Accel ceramic boots are really nice. I've been running the same set on my car since they came out probably 10 years ago.

2008 Silverado / Escalade 45 degree factory wires work well.
