Port injection would make it an easier swap into a 3rd or 4th gen than direct injection.

wouldn’t you be able to use a Holley Terminator X (or Max) then?

Holley has Terminator X Max systems for both the port as well as direct injection engines.

I wasn't aware Terminator X supported direct injection. But port injection simplifies the fuel system, I think.

My comment pertained to SDPC putting port injection. Since it’s not DI anymore, wouldn’t a 58x Terminator (or Max) work? This is cheaper than the Terminator Max DI.

Some people might already have the regular Terminator X. This woad my whole point.

The SDPC SDRL8T engine in the Hotrod article is actually port injected; the DI has been removed to make it cheaper and simpler to hot rod the L8T engine. And to swap and run it with an EFI system.
If I were to "LS" swap something now, I would definitely consider the L8T engine. (Technically an "LT" engine). Appears to be the most cost effective new engine with forged crank and rods.
