LS1 into a 72 camaro Im new here! Im putting a 99 ls1 camaro ss motor in my 72 camaro and any info would be great! Are the bpr motor mounts any good! we bought some mounts for my brothers 68 camaro from year one and they dont work! Im not using the ac, or ps. so i know i dont have to notch the frame. Im running a th350 and i have the 99 wire harness and computer. can this be converted or should i by a new harness. if so from who. Will the 1st gen headers work in the 2nd gen? I havnt tried it yet. any other info will be great!
I used the S&P mounts, or I copied thiers anyway. Seem to work fine, but sometimes you have to elongate the holes in the subframe.
I modified my own harness, not too hard just have to pay attention to the wiring diagrams.
I have wondered about the 1st gen headers fitting the 2nd gen cars. Regular small block headers interchange. So it could be a possibility.

Thats the same thing that BRP hotrods said about there mounts... w/ the th350. that you had to elongate the holes in the subframe.
the wiring basically what just battery to the starter and ignition to the starter + or - some.
ya the headers sould work... have you tried aftermarket headers for 4 gen camaro? do they work in are frame? i have a buddy that has some 98 ls1 camaro headers and hes going to let me try them to see if they fit.

I tried Macs mid length headers which were too wide, and I tried the Hookers which the collector on the drivers side angles out into the frame rail. Passanger side fit as far as i can remember. These would also need the O2 bungs relocated. Someone said that they thought they could get the SLP headers to fit. But I didnt really feel like spending over ag rand on something that might not fit.
I personally think the 1st gen headers might be the way to go. Just need to get a set and see fi they fit.

we arnt to sure on the headers yet.... the mounts set the motor to far forward, the oil pan doesnt clear the steering. we tried every configuration of the mounts we could think of and they just dont fit. so we made some plate that will slide the motor back with the use of the year one mounts
