Default LS1 and T56 in '66 ChevyII

I have decided to go with the LS1 and T56 set up in my '66 ChevyII. I am looking for information on a adverage cost of a LS1,T56, wiring harness and computer. I am not going to use the A/C.

My car has a Heidt's front sub frame so space is not a problem. Thanks in advance for information and help with this project.

Thanks,
CT

Our LS1 off of eBAy was $2400 Auto trans included. look at about another ~$500 for a manual trans.
Wiring harness modifications to the stock harness and computer was about $750

Depending on how you wnat it to look when it is done, the harness can be either modified to be self contained, or you can get a whole new harness to give you a lttle more leeway on looks and location of things like the computer.
I have seen this from $350 for the mod, to around $750 or so for the new harnesses.

Im also looking into doing this same swap. Will the LS1 fit into the stock front end or does it need the Heidts or Alston Chassis in order to work?I take it headers will have to be made as well?

We're doing one at our shop and having all kinds of heck with the stock steering linkage and oil-pan. The customer didn't want to do another front-end yet, which would make things SO much easier...

Your oil pan will have to be cut back quite a bit.

The car will be really sweet once it's done though.

Well, after a search, I learned of the new pan for the GTO's. Front sump. I got one on the way which should take care of my steering linkage woes.

Part # is 12561541.

We should have it running by next weekend - once we make some headers. Looks like modifying some shorties will do the trick. I can make you some to while I'm at it.

Ask me anything. PM me or email me at lane@laneswheels.com

I am still trying to locate a engine and T56 set up. I am getting quotes from $2000.00 to $7000.00 for this set up. I am going to fab my own headers for this project.

We're painting the engine bay tonight. We're in the middle of moving our shop, so things are going to get delayed a bit... Next week in the new place I'll be able to dedicate most, if not all, of my time towards it and I'll post pics and keep you updated.

If the steering link was not there, could you use a stock LS1 pan on it?Stock front clip but put a rack on instead of using the stock drag link steering?Would the stock pan work then?

Probably... You'll just have to try it. I do have a couple of notched oil pans laying around if you need one. lol

I'm in the process of installing a "modified" 5.3 GEN III and 4l60E in my 66 Nova with stock front clip.
Here is a link to T&T Customs who took the body down to bare metal, rebuilt the front end, installed disk brakes on front and is installing the engine/transmission.
