LS1-Bellhousing Face to Motor Mount Distance??
Hello,
I am considering installing an LS1 and T56 or Tremec transmission in my '69 Camaro. I need to know if it can be adjusted forward or back so that the shifter passes through the existing transmission tunnel hole. How does the distance from the bellhousing face to the motor mounts differ from the traditional small block? I understand that some of you guys have used special brackets to move the LS1 closer to the firewall, which leads me to believe that there is some adjustment.
Also, if the LS1 is mounted near the firewall, can I use my original rear steering? I would prefer not to convert to front steering. My understanding is that I would need a modified oil pan, but otherwise it would fit. Please confirm or correct me.
Thank you
