Been around for a bit, but finally moving toward a driving LS1 for the first time-

For the price that it would take to get custom z06s to a RX bolt pattern and offset, Ill get Fisks.

There is no way a carb would clear the FD hood. The intake only clears but about 1/2" as is.

Now if I were building a 2nd gen rx7, Id do a 400 SBC with a 200r4 and transbrake, and spray it into the 9s.

This is more of a ultimate street machine than a drag car

Stock rims dont fit a 285 Nitto. Plus these are much larger that helps with gearing...

Besides, with the way she will idle, noone in their right mind will think sleeper...

True. You need to put an ASP pulley on there, and maybe some better bolt-ons, i.e. intake manifold. Keep us updates on your progress. That is one sharp car.

ps, I would cam it out, and run 2 mufflers on each exhaust pipe with an electric cutout inbetween each muffler and the header. This will make it a sleeper. When someone toys with you, open the flaps and let her rip.

u can fit a 255/50-60/16 on it can't you?

if you do the math, thats like an 11 inch wide tire and with a BFG, its enough to snap the stock IRS you have back there. you gonna put a new diff in or just go easy out of the hole?

sorry, i've been working on an rx-7 for the last 3 hours putting it back together and been thinking about doing the same as u are doing

Man that is SLICK. 2800 pounds withOUT weight reduction. There are only about 500 different carbon fiber parts for those cars. You could have a 2500 pound car in no time Hang on!!

The FD IRS's are actually pretty strong. I know that Hinson's car was pulling 1.5x short times on the stock IRS. I have a friend who has an LS1 FD, and he's in the process of upgrading the FD rearend to an FC Turbo II unit. I'm not sure of all the ins and outs as to why, but I know that's what he's doing.

Also, one of the few setbacks of this setup is gear selection. I think there are only 2 factory gear ratios (3.90 and 4.10 or 4.11), which is probably why he wouldn't want to run a 26" tall tire. My guess is the 28" tall 18" Nittos are to try to help with the low gears in the 7.

I really like the LS1 FD's. Very cool cars, and ridiculously quick. I'd like to do an LS1 FC someday--I've always liked the styling of those cars, and they're a little cheaper and easier to come by than a 3rd gen.
