Default LS1 in my Diablo?

Hello all,
Great site!

Today I picked up a 99' LS1 from a corvette that was wrecked. It only had 11k.

The question I have is regarding the Intake, I have to turn the intake to face in the other direction. The reason for this is, when hooking up the LS1 to the Porsch 915 transaxle it must face to the back of the car. Do I have to do anything special?

Also the motor cam with the complete wiring harness, would you recommend changing to a new one or striping it down to the bare bones?

Thanks for the help.

Kit car diablo no Fiero custom made frame.

John,
I'm pretty sure that you can just flip the intake 180 and bolt it down. The fuel rail can go either way depending on where your fuel line is located. (I had no idea that the intake could be flipped until I saw it on a turbo drag car that a local shop was building last time I was in there.)

For your harness, contact Speartech and have them modify that harness.

I have seen pictures of reverse-mounted intakes, not sure what was done. One of the turbo LS1 guys has a setup like that.

There is one tube that vents the valve cover to the TB. You may have to put the driver cover on the passenger side... and vise versa.

I reversed mine. you will need to relocate your oil pressure sender. it is an odd thread size. something like 16mm x 1.5 . autobarn.com sell an adapter kit. You can then run a 90 and a short pipe to get it where one will clear. you will also need to exstend the MAP sensor wire and shorten the ones for the MAF/IAT, TPS, and IAC

I would like the dimensions of your LS1 w/ Porche tranny installed. Do you have length from crank pulley to center of CV output?

Also, length from LS1 bellhousing flange to center of CV output.

Can some VW or Audi transaxles be substituted for the Porche tranny or are even the same?

I am building a mid-engine LS1 and need to know if I have the room to go longitudinal.

Thanks!

Not sure you have the space for it but I ran into a similar problem with the throttle body being to close to the firewall. I ended up making a 90 elbow and mounting the throttle body to it. I couldn't reverse my intake because of the turbo / muffler placement. If you have the space reverse it would be easier + cheaper.

Another ultima owner has his intake reversed.

Good luck with your project, I love lambo kits.

My car doesn't really run yet, I just got it started

start video 7.5m

At idle the magnaflow is pretty quite, but the turbo also acts like a second muffler. My dyno tunning appointment is May 6th so then I'll know how loud it will really be. I post the video's after the tunning.

If you haven't already got a trans contact Roger @ powerHouseII www.phii.net Roger has done many custom g50 boxes for the ultima crowd. Great guy to deal with.

Nice Mark. my tranny will be here this week I hope. I went with Renegade Hybrids Scott is also a great help he does a ton of Porsche Tranny to LS1. I would have liked to go with the G50/50 but I would have had problems with the frame and suspension. So I went with the 915 and flipped the ring and pinion taller first gear and other good stuff

Good luck with the dyno.
