LS1 Trailblazer conversion

LS1 Trailblazer conversion
I am considering putting the 5.7L LS1 into a 2002 Trailblazer 4WD, 6cyl SUV. Has anyone done this or heard of one? I know the extended newer versions come with the 4.8 V8, so I am hoping I can bolt it in with minimal problems. Thanks for any input!!!

The transmission bolt pattern is different between the I6 and the V8.
We've actually had a couple of the Trailblazer I6's in here to make wiring harnesses for; here's what the tranny end looks like:
BUT, since the newer 4L60E's are a 2 piece case, you could probable leave the trans in place and just unbolt the I6 bellhousing and swap in the V8 bellhousing.
I've got an 04 GMC Envoy extended with the V8 and really like it. If you find a wrecked one of these with the V8, I would recommened buying it, as the 5.3 V8's used in all of these (no 4.8 available) are the aluminum block LM4 instead of the iron block LM7 used in other trucks!!
Also if any special brackets are needed to put the V8 in the short version, the Buick Ranier would be the place to get them. It is the only short version that had the 5.3 available as an option.
The all aluminum 5.3 (LM4) comes in:
03-04 Chevy Trailblazer extended
03-04 GMC Envoy extended
04 Buick Ranier
04 Chevy SSR

as of right now theres no hope for the I6. All u can get engine wise is cai and cat-back. The twin turbo setup, was just gm testin ght limits of the I6 and will never be offered. Whipple backed out b/c they coulndt tuen the I6 pcm correctly. Hooker made some headers, but then canceled the whole order, for gods knows why. And there u have it nothin...

gm did the tt trailblazer, but it wasnt the motor we have, meaning it was all forged and lower compression, so you cant just toss turbos on our trailblazers. Im so down with doing a v8 swap, wouldnt be the first six cylinder to eight cylinder swap ive done haha.

Oh gotcha. I remember hearing about them testing the TT, too bad they never did anything with the testing, new ty or syclone would be way better than the ssr.

I'm looking at a 4L60e tranny from a 6 cylinder trailblazer to bolt behind the 5.3 in my 76 camaro.
I have a V8 bellhousing I can swap out, but my question is:
The torque converter will need to be swapped too correct? I can't use the 6 cyl torque converter in a V8 bellhousing attached to the V8?
