Default another ls1 into foxbody question

well i have been searching and reading for about 5 hours now, got a lot of good stuff but still have some questions

car in question is an 88 mustang coupe, mini tubed, moly cage, etc, this LS1 is only until I can afford to finish the dart based 18* sbc motor

1. big question, can i run stock exhaust manifolds, pass side should clear but i am worried about the driver side, because of the steering shatf, anyone tried it

2. oil pan, i see people saying to get a tubular k member with 4.6gt mounts, I have enough experience fabbing stuff where custom motor and tranny mounts will be easy, along with a cross member if need be

3. why is the 4.6 mounts needed

as it stand i have a POS dnd k member setup for stock ford mounts, the other option would be to use an PA racing k member for chevy mounts, dont want to go with a 4.6 k member unless I have too, because i need to convert to an sbc k member anyway, or I already have the ford 5.0 setup, pics would be awesome, then i could get a good visual for what will and wont work, fabbing a k member is beyond me right now, ill stick with back halfs and roll cages

4. and a wiring question, if i use an s&p harness, will this still shift a 4l60e the proper way, i know it works just fine with a t56, but u dhift that yourself , basically does that harness have the neccesary provisions for the electric auto tranny junk

If you don't use the 4.6 K, you'll either need to 'notch' the oil pan or try the new GTO front sump pan. Don't know for sure, but I believe it(GTO pan) will clear.

Never used the S&P harness, but it should work fine.

im guessing you never got my email oh well

what is different between a 4.6 k memner and a 5.0 k member, i thought that the middle bar would be in the same position on both, to locate the steering rack in the same place as stock, is it so close that a 1/4" would make or break it

i am not afraid of a little notching, i can get it too work

any idea on the stock exhaust manifolds, i cant believe you wouldnt have tried it juat to see, before hacking up some 351w headers
