My UK LS1 conversion
Car was originally a mint 1980 Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia, with 20k before I got it a couple of years ago.
Basically, intentions are, 5.7l LS1 engine + T56 into my 1980 MK2 Granada to replace the old 4.6 Twin Turbo Rover V8 engine and Supra turbo gearbox.
Initially it will be n/a, but I will be supercharging it in the future, using a Vortech V7 YSi, + as big an intercooler as I can fit.
Initial spec will be, 5.7 LS1, ported heads from FFHP, LPE GT2-3cam, and tubular ex manifolds ( yet to source, but want to try MAC's ), aeromotive fuel rails and pump, and Siemens 57lb injectors, DTA P8Pro management, and various other parts. I hope to get easily over 400bhp with it n/a, and considerably more once blown.
I do have the supercharger brackets, and cogged Gilmer drive, so I can size fitment of the engine and rad etc. The Camaro PAS setup doesnt work with the Holden Commodre SC bracket I wanted, so i need the Holden PAS assembley.
I also got Holden exhaust manifolds, but again, these wont fit my car, so as mentioned above, Im hoping a set of MAC headers will.
The T56 actually fitted with little modification, although part of the tunnel had been altered a bit before to allow fitment of the Supra box, but the actual tunnel structure still remains untouched..
I had to cut the X-member considerably to clear the Camaro sump, but Ive welded it back together, so dont see it as a problem. The sump needs altered to clear my steering rack, which is another problem, as it keeps warping. The crank pulley will also foul the sway bar, so again, Im looking into replacement options with help from FFHP. Ive tried welding the sump twice, hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky.
Also in the pics is my new AP 4pot brake assembly, 330x32mm floating discs. Look quite nice actually...Have also fitted a servo and master cylinder from a Mitsubishi Evo, to cope with the larger calipers. The servo being slightly smaller actually tidys up the engine bay a bit.
They replaced my old DIY brake kit which consisted of DIY brackets for Cossie style 4 pots ( from old BMW 7 series ), and AP discs and bells 310x28mm. My old wheels didnt allow any larger brakes.
Apparently pics will be available here, once approved.

Previous work includes fitment of a Ford Mustang live axle to the car, as the old IRS offered poor geometry, and kept breaking CV joints, and driveshafts.

But cost and packaging constraints, mean that the SC is the best choice. It will also offer smoother power deliver, which should offer better traction. I dont see 8-900bhp being too much of a problem anyway, which should be more than enough to keep me happy.
Ive also never used a supercharger before, so its something Ive wanted to try for a while.
