Pretty cool for a Radio Shack toy. This one is the first one produced, the Prez over at Year One emailed me the photos.

Dial up warning, BIG photos!

Cool RC car.

Tony,
Do you know any details about the actual car? I know that you're in tight with Kevin King. I'm interested in the cowl (hood) induction setup that they did. We were discussing doing something similar on my car as the motor was going in last spring. Instead of wraping all the way around the motor, we were thinking of just coming forward with the tubing and doing a 180 right above the throttle body. (This would be assuming that there's room under the hood, I haven't measured.) What do you think?

That intake is just something they fab'd up in their shop. ASCD actually designed and made the hood on the car, it is available on their website:

Personally, I don't see any benefit from that intake performance-wise since there is so much length of tubing and so many bends, and more surface area to potentially heat soak.

What kind of hood would you put on the car?

I have an L88 hood on the car that has a big opening right at the base of the windshield. The L88 had an air filter box mounted to the top of the carb that sealed to the hood and sucked air from the base of the windshield.
My current setup gets air from behind the radiator so my IATs are 20-40* above ambient temperature.

What about reversing the intake on the motor? I have read a couple threads about mid-engine conversions where people have turned the intake 180deg...this would put the TB right at that opening at the base of the windshield.

Throttle linkage might be an issue, but could be fixed with a "throttle by wire" arrangement from a newer Vette.

Default Looks like...

That's Jeff Trush's car, owner of Year-1.

You can see it on Lateral-G.net, click on the gallery and you'll see it top, kinda left. Cool stuff.

Rick.
