Default I put the car down for the winter's nap

Well, it's been a helluva year. January started out with an empty engine bay and a dream. By the end of the month, I had a motor being rebuilt and started planning the swap. It took just about every weekend, but by the end of May it was finally time to fire it up for the first time. What a feeling! In July I took it to Gingerman road course and finally got to see what 6k rpm felt like. Woah! Then it was just random cruising and tuning when I had free time, up until yesterday.

I filled the tank, dumped in some Sta-bil, and took the car for the last ride of the year. I did stop at a local park to get some fall car pictures so I'll post a few later. I have to wash the car cover before it goes on but unless something comes up, The Black Beast is down for the winter.

Thanks to all who helped me get thru the swap. Now I'm here to help others wherever I can.

-Matt

Mine's going into hybernation soon, but for now no salt on the roads.

Last weekend I changed spark plugs, swapped in a Turn One power steering pump (stocker was boiling on road courses, starting to get noisy on the street), and put a few miles on it.

Hopefully we'll get another nice weekend or weekday so I can add fuel stabilizer and run it up to temp one last road trip...I like putting it away nice 'n hot, cap off the exhaust pipes and MAF sensor, full gas tank w/ stabilizer.

Sorry to hear that it goes idle for the winter. I'm glad that I live where I can still drive my car everyday.

Yup, it's a trade-off but living within driving range of Pocono Raceway, Lime Rock Park, and Watkins Glen helps offset the pain.

The good thing about putting the car away for 5 months is that in March, it's like you just got a new car... every year!

I hadn't thought of it that way, but absolutely! The last two Winters I wiped the seats down with leather conditioner before closing the doors, even had a quasi-new-car smell when I jumped back in.
