oil pressure wire

Edit: I must have been sleeping when I wrote this.... I was thinking of the oil temp. They all have pressure senders.)

the 98 Fbody had a oil pressure sending unit.
if you put a 98 sending unit in it, you can use that signal for the GM oil pressure gauge... and it matches the signal needed for my 91 camaro... i donno about your swap, but its GM, so its probly the same.
The '82 instrument isn't calibrated for the same resistance range as the '01 pressure sending unit, but it gets the job done. If I see the dash gauge go below 45psi, I know I have problems.
So...it won't likely hurt to try connecting the '01 sender to your aftermarket gauge, but I'd strongly recommend checking it against a known-accurate sender and gauge. I scrounged an extra plate as mentioned above, drilled & tapped for a 1/8" NPT fitting, and threaded in the old capillary tube gauge just to get readings. When done, I swapped the plate out (you could just thread a 1/8" plug in there).
