Default msd box for carb'd LS1's available????

buddy of mine is doing a swap and ordered the MSD box, but they have not even shipped any to edelbrock yet, so its a no go. could be as early as next week, or as late as the summer. anyone have any info on this, or who might have a ignition box out already? MSD and edelbrock are the only ones i know of.

thanks!

contact john tucker @ southern performance systems 770-416-7649, norcross, ga
he sells a single plane, single 4 barrell intake with a 4 coil module with an adjustable timing curve (looks similar to a northstar setup), and tach output. it uses the stock crank sensor for the input and it has a long harness - very clean setup.
cost is @ 850 if i remember correctly, i was talking to him in ohio in october.
i am still debating this setup modified for efi or just using the stock plastic setup.

hope this helps

The Feb 2005 issue of Hot Rod magazine has a good article on this subject. Does a comparison of the single vs dual plane and the various cams which maximize the power and torque. They pumped 530 HP/428 ftlbs at 6500 RPM out of a stock LS6 crate motor. As part of the article they covered the MSD ignition module.

Id go with the MSD version, it is user programmable for timing, and has step timing for nitrous use. I think that would be better than the Edelbrocks version of it which uses pills to adjust timing.

holley looks more of a standalone managemant system, not an ignition box. kinda pricey, but im sure its got the software to tell ya whats what for extensive logging and tuning.

hanging in for the MSD. part #6010. jegs should have them by the end of january.
