MrDude , you're using the Hawk's Kmember , correct? Are you using the stock steering or getting the rack & pinion?

nope.
im using a profab Kmember... i bolted hawks mounts to it (it only uses the two rear bolt holes on each side)..
then i bolted a plate to the underside of the hawks mounts, and used a tubing to weld it to the Kmember... basicly i made my own LS1 AND SBC k member so i could swap in whatever motor i feel like. everything is setup to plug and unplug like stock. more work, but it doesnt lock me into anything... someday my plans may change yet again.. lol.

im using the stock steering.

Oh ok, I have the Hawk's k member, but another guy found out the engine will have to be raised up about 1.5 inches because the stock steering doesn't clear the alternator or A/C compressor with this particular k member. I was hoping it was just a one time mistake . Bruce has already told me he'll make it right , I didn't really want to send it back but I will have to.

yea, i think i saw thoes pics on Thirdgen.org.

i was thinking about it.... even if it did clear, i kinda wondered about the driveshaft angles... i mean its close to flat already, tipping the front down could make a nasty vibration...

Yea those were my pics on thirdgen.org. I just got my power rack and pinion today and I hooked it up for the most part, just have a few things to work out, but it seems like it should work alright. Im hoping driveling angles wont be an issue...but we will see. But that just goes to show you that unexpected things come up in a motor swap, even in one that has been done numerous times like a third gen ls1 conversion.

The Spohn tubular A-arms are really nice, the pics do not do them justice. I'm very happy with that purchase.

If you like third gen T/A's and from your first post sounds like you know what a TTA is, You should just save up and get a TTA. Or get a third gen and instead of doing a LS1 swap do a LC2 swap (3.8 231 Turbo V6) GN & TTA motor. With the amount of money you say you have to play with you can get a transplant that will hall @ss or even a higher mileage TTA and do a few bolt on's and say hello to the 11's. My buddy has a TTA with 4 mods... TA49, 3" THDP, 2800 Vigalante converter & a Hotwied Walbro 340 and he went 11.2 at 118 mph

My reasons for doing the swap are a little on the weird side side . I REALLY wanted the six speed before I wanted the LS1 . I suppose I'll be wanting the latest and greatest when the swapped drivetrain wears out.
