Default LS1 mock up motor
I want to say I've heard of a plastic LS1 for sale. It's supposed to be used for mock-up like the BBC and SBC motors.

Yeah, we use one for our LS1 vehicle installations. Great for laying out motor mounts, A/C clearance, just about anything. Plus its got all of the threaded bolt holes so you can test fit any kind of engine parts you want.

I think if you search for "Payr" on the internet; I believe that's the company that makes them.

That would come in handy for swaps. $375 though.

I think that for $375 I could find a junk block and a pair of heads to cut the guts out of and make my own "lightweight" longblock mock-up...

I think if you cut the guts out it would flex more than the plastic piece. might be alright for one set up, but if he plans on using it several times probably be better off with the plastic piece. anybody else think the same way

A bare block with only heads can't weigh very much. I bought a complete motor (Spun bearing) with accessories (Brackets, Starter, Altenator, fuel rails, injectors, ect) for $800. It came with an extra crank. I gutted it the first night I had it home and will be using that as a mock up block then use it as a core and sell the good parts off of it (Minus the ones I need).

im not sure about Indiana but i got one that had a threw a rod from a local shop for free, it may be worth checking out
